Black Alabamians have shaped the state's history since its founding in 1819. 海角直播, established as Howard College in 1841, witnessed this history unfold, from enslaved labor on campus to the integration of Black students in the 1960s and the dedication of the Racial Reconciliation Memorial in 2022.

On Nov. 8, 海角直播 observed National First-Generation College Student Day, joining colleges across the country in honoring the experiences and achievements of first-generation students. The Office of Student Success and Diversity, along with the First-Gen Club, hosted an event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Ben Brown Plaza. Students, faculty and staff were invited to stop by for free snacks, fun activities and valuable resources dedicated to supporting first-generation students on their educational journeys.
